Live it then write it!
Hi, my name is Sean Sanborn. My wife, Anne and I were YWAM missionaries in Thailand for 12 years doing Church planting and caring for daughter churches in 7 villages. Altogether I have lived in Thailand for 19 years and have obtained a government certificate of fluency in writing in Thai. My parents were YWAM missionaries and I grew up as a missionary kid in Chiangmai ,Thailand.
I have been equipping young missionaries through my role as the Outreach Teams Director for YWAM Tampa. So far, I have led over 66 outreach teams. I often travel internationally to help people in need.
Along the way, I’ve had some amazing adventures and I wanted my readers to experience this vicariously for themselves. I always dreamed someone would write an adventure book for teens they couldn’t put down – with spiritual principles woven throughout an epic storyline. Finally, I decided that I should be the one to do it and address issues like Hearing the Voice of God, Finding Your Spiritual Giftings, and Spiritual Warfare. I love teaching young people and have a special interest in assisting Missionary Kids to adjust when they leave the country they were brought up in and travel to the home of their parents.
It has taken years to craft exciting and funny novels that seamlessly unveil spiritual concepts, such as:
· An in-depth portrayal of the Thai culture by introducing readers to some kooky characters that encapsulate wonderfully strange customs.
· Practical ways to discern the Voice of God and His Will for your life.
· The plight of children in human trafficking. I made the topic safe enough that my own two children read these books at age eight. This can be an introductory tool to make children aware of the danger.
· An overview of Buddhism, Animism and Karmic world views.
· Gives short-term mission teams an idea of what to expect on a typical outreach.
· A typical day in the life of a missionary kid and missionary family.
· …. and much more. All without slowing down the action.
When I’m not writing, thinking about writing, or procrastinating about writing, I am busy with a myriad of other tasks. I currently live in Florida with my wife and two children, both whom are writing several of their own novels.
