Emily Adler Mosqueda, M.S., CCC-SLP, GC-ITMH (she/her/ella) is a second-generation Mexican-American. In 2018, Emily experienced postpartum depression and anxiety and began an alternative healing journey following the birth of her second daughter. Her memoir Unexpected chronicles her experience. In 2021, Emily began studying with sociologist on the topic of Motherhood Studies and through that learning edited her book to arch the breaking down of ideas of perfectionism to build a humanistic sense of self. Professionally, since 2009, Emily has practiced as a bilingual and bicultural pediatric speech-language pathologist and currently is an Associate Clinical Professor and supervisor where she teaches speech-pathology graduate students how to best support child communication development while also supporting caregiver and child mental health.
Emily is a Blue Dot Ambassador, an outreach arm of Postpartum Support International (PSI). In this capacity she promotes public awareness of perinatal mental health issues and resources. She often speaks at professional conferences on the topic of maternal mental health and pediatric communication development and services. She is married and a mother to two daughters.
