Mark Charles Powers has a gift for finding grace in the ordinary—and for helping the rest of us see it too. A lifelong musician, ordained minister, inspirational speaker, and teacher, Mark pours his energy into guiding people toward a vibrant, life-shaping relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
His weekly blog, Glimpses of Grace, invites readers into moments of hope, wonder, and spiritual clarity drawn straight from everyday life. For more than three decades, Mark served the church through worship leadership, including pastorates in five large South Carolina congregations.
His ten-year tenure as Worship & Music Director for the South Carolina Baptist Convention opened doors for him to teach and speak in seminaries, colleges, churches, and major conferences nationwide.
His non-fiction book, “Going Full Circle: Worship That Moves Us to Discipleship and Mission” (Wipf & Stock), earned a place on approved reading lists at Southwestern, Southern, and New Orleans Baptist seminaries and inspired the creation of Full Circle Support Groups for Worship Pastors across the Southeast.
Now in its third year, Mark’s “Glimpses of Grace” blog reaches more than 500 subscribers and continues to grow through his website, www.MarkCharlesPowers.com.
His novel, “His Eyes: A Novel of Hope from Tragedy”, released in October 2025 and is available through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Thrift Books, and Books-A-Million. Mark and his wife, Kay Ward Powers, make their home atop a mountain in western North Carolina, where the views are as inspiring as the ministry they share. As active members of Biltmore Church Hendersonville, they co-facilitate and disciple two adult connect groups each week.
Mark also continues his long tradition of community arts leadership as the founder and director of the Mountain Song Community Chorus in Saluda, NC. Wherever he serves—on the page, in the classroom, or behind a conductor’s stand—Mark’s mission remains the same: to help people encounter the transforming grace of God in ways that shape their lives and ripple outward into the world.
