Rev. Dr. Michelle J. Morris serves as a pastor for the United Methodist Church in the United States. She currently serves the First United Methodist Church in Bentonville, Arkansas.
Rev. Dr. Morris has four college degrees, one in English and French, one in Comparative Literature, a Master of Divinity, and a Ph.D. in Religious Studies with a specialty in the New Testament. She was called to the ministry after experiencing a tragic event at the university where she worked. The Holy Spirit showed up in her grief and convicted her to come work to bring God’s peace to the world. She has served six churches in her ministry so far, and also worked for the United Methodist Bishop of Arkansas. During her work for the Bishop, she was assigned to design Discipleship Pathways for the churches of Arkansas.
As she was discerning what that pathway should be, the Holy Spirit revealed Gospel Discipleship to her. It is her great hope that this work honors the vision of the Spirit, and she has seen it do tremendous things for the people who have learned to understand their giftedness as disciples of Christ.
She works with many different church communities in helping them understand how to follow Christ in ways that are true to the people they are called to be.
