I have been working as a licensed Clinical Psychologist in Colorado for over 10 years. I earned my Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania and my Doctorate of Psychology (PsyD) from the University of Denver. My key focus areas have been in using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approaches to help clients conquer their fears across a broad spectrum of anxiety disorders. I have struggled with my own social anxiety and self-confidence issues throughout my early and adult life, which influenced my interest and decision to pursue this career.
I have published three books on the topic of anxiety and building confidence including: The Social Anxiety Workbook; Overcoming Panic Attacks; and The Self-Confidence Journal. In these books, readers gain insights into the typical traps that we can all fall into regarding anxiety and confidence, especially in social and public settings, and then learn strategies to overcome these fears quickly and effectively. I always tell my clients that facing anxiety can feel scary at first, but the more you do it, the easier it gets.
I love watching clients grow and make changes that they never thought were possible when they first walked into my office. It is a true honor to bear witness to individuals facing thoughts, feelings, and memories that have sometimes plagued the person with incredible shame and anxiety for years or decades. Our minds are not our best friend and too often can keep us stuck assuming the worst about ourselves, the future, and others’ perceptions of us. By bringing these things out into the open in therapy, individuals can gain new and healthier perspectives that allow more freedom in their minds and in their action.
