Description

Historically Accurate Native American Literature

Chogan is a twelve year old Native American living along the southern shore of Gitche Gumee (Lake Superior) one hundred years before Columbus. Chogan and his ten year old sister rescue an orphan wolf pup and raise it to adulthood. When they release it to the wild, the wolf returns to save their lives.

The Chogan Native American Series was written for middle-grade boys, but the author sells more books to adults for adults than he does middle-grade students. It is a book for all ages.

In addition to reading a good story, the reader will learn about the lifestyle of pre-Columbian Ojibway Native Americans. The story is well researched and historically accurate. Interspaced among the pages of historical fiction are seven links to stand-alone web pages portraying a cultural event or survival skill essential to Chogan’s life in early America.

This book has half the word-count of adult novels and a larger font (14 pt.) It would make a great gift for a child or adult who is looking for a quick read.
