The True Mystery of The Mystical Presence
The True Mystery of The Mystical Presence

The True Mystery of The Mystical Presence

Think of this book as a contemporary edition of John Williamson Nevin’s book, The Mystical Presence—A Vindication of the Reformed or Calvinistic Doctrine of the Holy Eucharist (J.B. Lippencort & Co., 1846). It is not simply a reissue of an old book. Rather, it’s a sort of dynamic equivalence approach to editing in order to make it more available to contemporary people. I have simply tried to take Nevin’s work and make it my own, in the sense of comprehending its significance and application. In doing so, I have taken broad license to edit, interpret, clarify, and expand what I think Nevin was saying.

Peter’s Vision of The End

Peter’s Vision of The End

The end that Peter was talking about in Second Peter was the purpose of God for Jesus Christ. God was using Jesus Christ to bring the gospel of salvation to the Gentiles, to humanity, to the world. Consequently, Peter was not suggesting that God’s purpose was the destruction of the world. Rather, God was working to save the world. God’s message was and is a message of hope not hate, of love not loathes, of construction not destruction, of peace not war, and of suffering not fulfillment.

The Wisdom of Jesus Christ in Proverbs

The Wisdom of Jesus Christ in Proverbs

This study on Proverbs reveals the biblical message of the Book of Proverbs verse by verse through the lens of Jesus Christ, offering a Christological perspective akin to a commentary. It acknowledges that, as Christians, we interpret Proverbs from the redemption side of the Cross, even though it was written by King Solomon on the anticipation side. The study emphasizes the eternal consistency of God, whose wisdom remains unchanged. The God of Solomon, the author and editor of Proverbs, is the same revealed in the New Testament—Jesus Christ, through the power of the Holy Spirit. This work embraces this truth of faith, reading Proverbs in the light of Christ, affirming that God's wisdom is timeless and unchanging.

Varsy Arsy–Proclaiming the Gospel in Second Corinthians

Varsy Arsy–Proclaiming the Gospel in Second Corinthians

Varsy Arsy, the second volume in Ross’s examination of Paul’s letters to the Corinthians, delves into the Corinthian church’s embrace of a false teaching rooted in Greek wisdom. This Gnostic spirituality, while bringing wealth and influence, was denounced by Paul as a façade. In contrast to the celebrated success of the Corinthians, Paul challenges them to return to genuine faithfulness, opposing the worldly wisdom of Greek culture with the true wisdom of Christ. What the Corinthians deemed wisdom, Paul boldly labels as foolishness.

Through a thorough and passionate analysis of 1 Corinthians, Ross reveals the shortcomings of secular thought and illuminates the profound truth of the gospel, exposing the folly of worldly wisdom and highlighting the clarity and power of Christ’s teachings.

Colossians–Christos Singularis

This study of Colossians delves into the doctrine of the Trinity and its profound implications for understanding our own nature. It asserts that, while we are not Trinitarian in the same way as God, we reflect His Trinitarian character as part of being made in His image (Genesis 1:26). Just as an image resembles but is not identical to the original, we mirror God's Trinitarian nature in our own lives. This study explores how God's revealed character as a Trinity shapes our understanding and application of Scripture, while also acknowledging instances in Scripture where the concept of God's singularity is expressed.

John’s Miracles — Seeing Beyond Our Expectations

Explore John's unique approach to Jesus' miracles, balancing the humanity and divinity of Christ in his Gospel. As the last Gospel written, John offers a fresh perspective, challenging the typical, almost magical understanding of Jesus' miracles. He acknowledges natural explanations while emphasizing the supernatural, making a compelling case for the miraculous. Unlike the liberal wing of the modern church, which often dismisses the supernatural, John integrates it with rational thought, enhancing its credibility. This nuanced perspective invites a deeper, more meaningful understanding of Scripture, blending faith with reason.

Galatians – Backstory / Christory

Understanding the New Testament without grasping the overarching narrative of the Old Testament often leads to misconceptions about Jesus Christ's role and purpose in the Bible. Paul's letter to the Galatians is frequently misunderstood because many fail to appreciate how Paul's understanding of the Old Testament transformed in light of Christ. As a former Pharisee, Paul initially interpreted the Old Testament through traditional Jewish lenses. However, his encounter with Christ radically shifted his perspective, aligning it with Jesus' interpretation of Scripture. To fully grasp Paul's message in Galatians, it's essential to explore how Christ illuminated and transformed Paul's original understanding of the Old Testament narrative.
